Mi-TRALE Meetings
Mi-TRALE to meet this Monday, November 3
Michigan Trails and Recreation Alliance of Land and the Environment, commonly known as Mi-TRALE, will hold an important board of directors meeting this coming Monday night at Roger's Bar just west of Watersmeet. While this is a board meeting, it is open to the public, and the organization invites all interested parties to attend.
The meeting will address the implementation of Public Act 240, which legally opens local and county roads in Ontonagon, Gogebic, and Houghton Counties to ORV travel. An update on the status of this law in Iron and Baraga Counties will be given. Iron and Baraga Counties have this issue on upcoming county board meetings.
This new law is going to affect hunters, according to Mi-TRALE President Skip Schulz. "I'm proud to say that it was our organization that played an instrumental role on the passage of this bill on a statewide and county level, especially in time for the bird and deer hunters."
A report on trail repair on the IRM trail will be presented at Monday's meeting, along with work that the organization will be doing collaboratively with area snowmobile clubs. Mi-TRALE has a close working relationship with the Superior Snowmobile Club, White Thunder Riders, and the Sno-Valley Riders.
Mi-TRALE President Skip Schulz will be giving a report as to his positions on the Michigan DNR Western U.P. Citizens Advisory Council and the National Land Use Advisory Council. Schulz will also report on the recent National ATV Association meeting.
It will be at Monday night's meeting that an update on the second printing of the Mi-TRALE Western U.P. ORV Trail Map will be given. The first printing of 1,000 of these maps was sold out in less than 2 months. The club hopes to have 2,000 printed in time for the Michigan firearm deer season.
The meeting on Monday night will start at 6:00 p.m. Central time/7:00 Eastern.
Mi-TRALE meets the first Monday of every month. Our meetings are at 7:00 p.m. EST/6:00 p.m. CST. Our meetings are open to EVERYONE…members and non-members.
